You’ve already read that Bennigan’s is closing up shop and filing for bankrupcy. You’ve probably already said “Darn, I’m going to miss that Monte Cristo sandwich.” But for hundreds of other North Texans, they’re saying…what do I do now?
Rumors have been circulating that the main reason behind the shutdown was that the company couldn’t make payroll. That means the $2.00 an hour wage a server can count on isn’t going to come — and when you can’t work for tips in a closed store, servers aren’t going to be able to afford much food for themselves.
Beyond the lost jobs, this shutdown is set to affect the companies that sell food to the Bennigan’s chain — and when your company makes the Monte Cristo sandwiches used in 800 stores (you did know they make those outside of the resturant, right?), there’s going to be significantly less Cristo cash in your coffers.
And yes, we’ll all miss those beer-battered items, glasses of Guiness, and Irish atmosphere….but even we can’t remember the last time we went to Bennigan’s…

I will miss Steak and Ale. It sure seems to me that a place like Dallas Fort Worth could do better.
Here recently I was going about once a week after work to relax and have a good cold beer. It was like an old friend. You always thought it was going to be there. Will miss you!
Correction: They do(did) make the Monte Cristo in- store.
Well i used to love there Food and service when we lived in FL, But I have not found one in michigan thats seems to care about service or the quality of the food! its never comes to the table as ordered ! and dont expect to see your server for more drinks. our last visit was less then a MO ago and we got our food for free the service and food was so bad. and that location is still open . so this will give you some indication of what the ramaining locations that are still open are like. I cant say that i will miss ya but wish that operations had a better leader so jobs where not lost.
Dear Patrons,
One of the good news for the DFW area is that the Bennigan’s in Irving (Las-Colinas) is open for normal business. They are serving their customers every day. Come by and dine in if you feel like eating Bennigans food.
Yeah, we totally mentioned that in“Bennigans Agains?”
